An Introduction to Overhead Bridge Cranes
Beaton Industrial offers a complete product line of floor and cab controlled standardized industrial overhead bridge cranes. Capacities range from 1/2 ton to over 100 tons. We will utilize standardized components to customize a crane for your specific material handling solution.
- Overhead Cranes - single and double girder, top and under running, plus gantry cranes, for capacities to 300 tons. Turnkey installations and runways.
- Freestanding Cranes – complete freestanding bridge cranes, capacities to ten tons. Ideal for buildings not specifically designed for overhead cranes.
- Gantry Cranes – There is a complete range of gantry cranes including single girder, double girder, double leg, single leg, and cantilever styles for indoor or outdoor service. Capacities, spans and heights are virtually unlimited.
- Work Station – Work Station Bridge Cranes can handle the toughest overhead lifting tasks. These cranes, which can be installed on any normal 6-inch reinforced concrete floor, feature a pre-engineered, modular design that can easily expand as your work centers expand.
- Crane & Hoist Control Options – Beaton Industrial, Inc. also offers a wide range of controls for all makes of cranes and hoists.

- How often is the crane to be used?
- What span is required?
- How long is the runway travel?
- How high must the hoist lift?
- Is the bridge going to be supported by the building, self-supported, or both?
- Is the bridge going to be indoors or outdoors?
- How is the crane powered? All motorized, push-pull, hand geared, or combination?
- If motorized, how fast? Single or dual speeds? Variable frequency drives?
- What voltages are required?
- What type of control? Pendant from hoist, separate track or remote control?
- Any special features? Cabs, walkways, horns, lights?
